“This man receives sinners and eats with them.” The criticism the Pharisees spoke against Jesus was unrelenting. How dare He befriend sinners! In response, Jesus told three short stories—a trilogy that underscored without apology how "the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost” (Luke 19:10).

Luke chapter 15 records those three stories as the parables of the lost sheep, the lost coin, and the lost or prodigal son. Charles Dickens said, “The Parable of the Prodigal Son is the finest short story ever written.”

That’s because heaven rejoices when one sinner repents and comes home to the Father who waits with outstretched arms. So what are you waiting for? By faith, start your journey home today.
