Under normal circumstances, most of us have selective memory. Too often, we remember the things we should forget and forget the things we should remember.

How good is your memory? Do you lose track of dates, seasons, and the passage of time? Memory loss is a real thing, especially as we get older. Sometimes it’s the sign of early dementia or Alzheimers. But God—the Ancient of Days—never has a memory problem.

The prophet Zechariah’s name means “Yahweh remembers,” indicating that the Lord, who is “very jealous for Zion” (Zechariah 1:14, 8:2), will remember the covenant He made with Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and King David. And God will never forget the new covenant He made with you through the blood of His Son Jesus Christ.
