He could have asked God for anything―wealth, riches, honor, long life, even the elimination of his enemies. Instead he said, “Give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may lead this people” (2 Chronicles 1:10). And can you believe it? The Lord gave Solomon the wisdom he desired plus wealth and riches like the world has never seen before or since.

If God gave you one request, what would you ask for? Wisdom is priceless. Without wisdom, wealth and honor can train-wreck a person’s life. Just ask the winner of the mega-lottery.

Wisdom is the God-given skill to embrace truth and live it out successfully. James asks, “Who is wise and understanding among you?” (James 3:13).
