War in Heaven

“Now war arose in heaven.” Those five words make you pause and think, don’t they? War? In heaven? 

 

This is part of the Revelation of Jesus Christ that the apostle John received on the island of Patmos. He goes on to say, “Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon. And the dragon and his angels fought back, but he was defeated, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven” (Revelation 12:7-8).

 

The intense and increased levels of persecution on planet earth mirror a simultaneous war happening in the heavenly realms. Like Daniel chapter 9 and Ephesians chapter 6, Revelation chapter 12 is a reminder to us that spiritual warfare is real, more real than reality television.
