First Samuel marks an important turning point in Israel’s history. They rejected God as their king and demanded a human king like all the other nations. This led to Saul, Israel’s first king, and his pathetic leadership. King Saul’s rise and notorious fall is more tragic than a Shakespeare play.

Nations and individuals regularly face turning points that lead to tragedy or triumph. Which way will America turn? Which way will you turn?

If the turning point is significant enough, some say there is no turning back. Fortunately, in this life, it is never too late to turn back to God. Thankfully, the Lord stands ready and willing to forgive us and welcome us home when we turn back to Him in genuine repentance.
