“But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God” (Acts 20:24).

Those heartfelt words are part of a farewell address that Paul made to the Ephesian elders in the book of Acts. Many of those present on that day would never see Paul again, which explains their tears. They loved the Apostle Paul, who had ministered to them for three years, and he loved them, too.

Is there anything more precious to you than fulfilling the ministry given to you by the Lord Jesus Christ? The people to whom Paul ministered were his trophies of the grace of God.
