A farmer plants a tree in the ground with the expectation of a future harvest. But when harvest time comes, the tree bears no fruit, yielding deep disappointment in the farmer’s heart.

Life can also be full of disappointments. Do unmet expectations challenge your trust in the goodness of God? Centuries ago, the prophet Habakkuk refused to let that happen.

He writes, “Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior” (Habakkuk 3:17-18).

Joseph Owen says:
It's so true that unmet expectations can be tough. Habakkuk's words are a powerful reminder to find joy even when things don't go as planned. Sometimes, shifting our focus helps us see things differently. It reminds me of the feeling you get when you nail a tricky jump in Snow Rider 3D, even after failing a few times. That initial frustration melts away into pure joy! We can find that resilience and joy in our faith too.
