Joseph Weiler is the law professor at New York University who says the trial of Jesus Christ is “arguably the most famous trial in Western civilization.” But is it true?

Is Jesus’s trial more famous than the trial of Socrates (399 B.C.), the Salem witch trials (1692), the Nuremberg trials (1945-1949), and even the O.J. Simpson trial (1995)? And if it is, so what? What does the arrest and trial of a Jewish Rabbi two thousand years ago have to do with us?

The arrest, trial, crucifixion, and resurrection of Jesus Christ are the most monumental events in human history, when the innocent Son of God willingly endured a travesty of justice and more to pay the penalty for our sins.
