Jesus once had a conversation with a Samaritan woman at a local watering well. As quickly as He could, He turned the conversation from water to worship, concluding, “God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth” (John 4:24). What did He mean by this?

Worship must first happen in the heart, what some call the spirit realm, because by nature God is spirit. When our spirit aligns with the Holy Spirit who indwells us, we get back to the heart of worship. Worship must also happen in the head by engaging in the kind of rigorous thought that leads us to the knowledge of God.

Are you worshipping God in spirit and truth?
