People of real substance are hard to find today. Many are content walking around in shallow places, chasing after fame, fortune, and decadent pleasure.

Even the church can be a difficult place to find real substance. Some people of faith prefer the shadowy places of legalism, mysticism, and asceticism. But the real substance of your faith cannot be found in rules and rituals.

So don’t let anybody judge your spirituality by elevating law above grace, or by declaring you unworthy to enter into the holy presence of God, or by enslaving you with extreme measures of self-denial. The real substance of your faith is not found in shadows but in a real relationship with Jesus Christ (Colossians 2:16-23).
