Seven Deadly Sins
Pride, anger, lust, laziness, gluttony, envy, and greed. During the sixth century, Pope Gregory was the first to draw attention to these seven deadly sins. The reason for highlighting the deadly sins was to make a plan for overcoming them.
During the European Middle Ages, the deadly sins were a popular theme in plays, art, and literature, and they were always balanced by a list of heavenly virtues such as humility, patience, purity, diligence, self-control, gratitude, and generosity.
Do the vices appear too often in your life and the virtues not often enough? Is your spiritual win-loss record embarrassing? Now is the time for the kind of honest self-examination that helps us make forward progress in sanctification.
