Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me    (Psalm 51:10).

Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me (v. 11).

Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit (v. 12).

Can you hear a ring of desperation in these words? They come from a man so broken he fears losing the most important things in his life—real joy, a clean conscience and intimacy with God.

King David sinned in a big way with a bathing beauty. He also shows us how a man gets right with God. God’s arm is never too short that it cannot save and restore a shattered life.
