Let’s play Jeopardy! The category is Roman Mythology for $100. She wears a blindfold and holds a set of scales in one hand. If you answer, “Who is Lady Justice?” you are correct.

For centuries, the goddess of justice has been the symbol of due process in democratic societies worldwide. Lady Justice wears a blindfold so that facts and evidence tip the scales of justice rather than political bias or personal preference.

Many Old Testament prophets, including Micah, spoke against the social and economic injustices in their day. However, are today’s cries for social justice the same? What we need today is biblical justice, not a skewed version of justice that puts real due process in jeopardy.

Dr. Jones' article on due process resonated with me, reminding me of a situation at work where fairness felt compromised. The blindfold of Lady Justice, meant to ensure impartiality, sometimes feels like it's off. It's disheartening to see biases creep into decision-making processes. When I need a mental break from such weighty matters, I sometimes unwind with something simple, like playing Tiny Fishing on my phone; it’s a surprisingly good way to de-stress. Ultimately, striving for true objectivity is an ongoing challenge, requiring constant vigilance and a commitment to upholding the principles of justice for everyone.
