"You want something but don't get it." "You kill and covet, but you cannot have what you want." "You quarrel and fight." "You do not have, because you do not ask God." Sounds frustrating, doesn't it? But does it also sound familiar? Does it describe your present situation?
Maybe all of this is true of you because you're in a quarrel with God. James says, "Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God" (James 4:4).
A friend of the world? An enemy of God? All of that sounds a bit over the top until we understand that "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble" (James 4:1-6).
