"And when you pray . . ." (Matthew 6:5).  Jesus had a few things to say about how not to pray before he gave his disciples a model for prayer.

Have you ever heard a hypocrite pray? Jesus said, "They love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men." Have you ever heard the heathen pray? Jesus said, "They keep on babbling like pagans," thinking God will hear them because they repeat certain words.

Prayer is conversation with God not a Broadway show, and it's certainly not about chanting meaningless words over and over again. So when you pray, do it the Jesus way.
