Romans 3:23 says, “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death.”

This is really bad news. But Hebrews 9:26 tells us the good news. “But as it is, [Jesus] has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.”

The bronze altar in the Old Testament tabernacle is a picture of the sacrifice Jesus made for you and me on the cross. He paid the penalty for our sins and by faith we receive the free gift of eternal life. And then we present our body to Him as a living sacrifice (Romans 12:1).
