Dr. James Dobson wrote a book for a generation of parents and teachers that became a best-selling classic titled, Dare to Discipline. The word “dare” suggests that it takes courage to discipline your child, even to suggest that discipline is necessary.

That’s because some experts say, “How dare you discipline your child!” They believe children should discover themselves through freedom and a lack of restraints. And when the child’s behavior devolves into defiance, they tell parents to relax. The child will eventually develop into a sweet, loving, and compliant person.

I say hogwash and so does Proverbs 22:15, which reads, “Folly is bound up in the heart of a child.” So parents, you better dare to discipline your kids.
