The phrase “he leads me” appears twice in Psalm 23. “He leads me beside still waters” and “he leads me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.” When Jesus declared “I am the door of the sheep” and “I am the good shepherd,” He also said, “The sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out” (John 10:3, italics added).

Taken together, these words leave us with the firm impression that the good shepherd assumes the leadership of His sheep. Thus, our response, as the sheep of God’s pasture, must be to follow the leader.

Choose right now to follow the good shepherd. That is the best way to make sure you arrive at the right destination.
