The stoning of Stephen in Acts chapter 7 is a reminder that those who suffer according to God’s will can entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good (1 Peter 4:19).

Consider the strong show of support Stephen received from all three members of the holy Trinity, mentioned in verse 55. Even Jesus rose to His feet, standing at the right hand of God in honor of the first martyr of the church, turning what man meant for evil into something good.

Far better to die like Stephen by a hail of crushing rocks and have the risen Christ welcome you into heaven, than to die peacefully amidst worldly comforts and hear, “Depart from Me. I never knew you!”
