Daniel chapter 10 gives us a fascinating glimpse into the realm of spiritual conflict. While Daniel was praying and fasting for twenty-one days, something was happening that was unseen to the naked eye.

God immediately heard Daniel’s prayer and dispatched a heavenly messenger to deliver the answer. However, somewhere between heaven and earth a demon called the prince of Persia stood against the heavenly messenger. The battle between them lasted for three full weeks.

Daniel might have been tempted to give up praying. “Where are you God? Are you listening to my prayer?” But he continued praying until the answer came. Some answers to prayer come immediately; others take time. Breakthrough prayer requires the kind of persistence we see Daniel practicing in his prayer life.
