Blessed are the Meek
The last time I checked, no one was looking for meekness in the next president of the United States, the next coach of the Dallas Cowboys, or the next corporate manager at Coca-Cola. Most people associate meekness with weakness, not strength. But is that the correct way to understand biblical meekness?
Actually, meekness is power under control. The Greeks used the word "meek" to describe a mighty war horse trained to obey instantly and absolutely. In the Christian life, meekness is a gentle disposition that waits on God in faith.
That's why Jesus said, "Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth" (Matthew 5:7). Think of meekness as a pathway to your happy place and getting everything you want out of life.
