Devotional

The Dayspring of Salvation

By Dr. Ron Jones

Six months before Mary gave birth to Jesus in Bethlehem, her relative Elizabeth delivered her own baby boy named John, the messenger of Messiah. His father, Zechariah, prophesied these words over his son,

“For you, child, will go before the face of the Lord to prepare His ways . . . the Dayspring from on high has visitedus;to give light to those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace” (Luke 1:76-79).

Zechariah declared the dawning of a new day with the arrival of Jesus Messiah. Call it a new and glorious morning when prisoners are set free, the enemy is defeated, and our sin debt is cancelled.

Reflection Question

How has the arrival of Jesus Messiah meant the start of a “new and glorious morning” in your life?

“Every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good.”
