God’s Minute

By Dr. Ron Jones

Rudyard Kipling once wrote a poem called "God's Minute." It reminds us of the sacredness of time.

I have only just a minute,
Only sixty seconds in it.
Didn't seek it, didn't choose it,
But it's up to me to use it.
I must suffer if I lose it,
Give account if I abuse it.
Just a tiny little minute,
But eternity is in it.

During one twenty-four hour day, you and I are given 1,440 minutes, important minutes that we can only use once. Each one of them is a priceless gift.

Moses prayed, "Lord, teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom" (Psalm 90:12). What are you doing with the time God gives you?

Reflection Question

Read Ephesians 5:16. How will you “redeem the time” God gives you this year? What is your motivation for doing so?

“Every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good.”

Romans 8:28 MSG
