Of all the miracles Jesus performed, none is more popular than the one where He fed five thousand men and their families with a little boy’s sack lunch. Some estimate that as many as ten to fifteen thousand people ate lunch that day on a hillside in Galilee.

The lunch miracle sets up a large body of teaching where Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life” (John 6:22-59). Jesus chose bread instead of lobster cocktail or filet mignon as a way of identifying with everyday people like you and me.

Whether you dine at Panera Bread or eat day-old bread from the local food shelter, Jesus is the bread that sustains your life and mine.
