Partial. Biased. Prejudiced. Favorable. Discriminatory. These are all words that inflame our emotions. The sin of partiality is ugly and it makes us angry. But respecters of persons are easy to spot.

They appear as intellectual snobs, economic elites and holier-than-thou church-goers. They are parents that favor one child over another, neighbors that look down their noses at you, and worse, pastors that give preference to rich people in their congregation.

It's one thing to make fine distinctions between two restaurants or in how you choose to spend your leisure time. But to show partiality to one person over another on the basis of age, gender, or skin color is the axis of evil (James 2:1-13).
