God's ways are not our ways, especially when it comes to resolving our quarrels. According to James, first we must submit ourselves to God. Second, we must resist the devil (James 4:7). Both steps are an acknowledgement that "we wrestle not against flesh and blood."

The fights and quarrels we experience with others have a spiritual dimension that we ignore to our peril. And spiritual battles must be fought and won with spiritual weapons.

So, maybe it's time for you to armor up―to put on the breastplate of righteousness, take up the shield of faith, and pray. Then pray some more. And then watch God go to work in the heavenly realms where the conflict started in the first place.
