Are you a persistent person? Do you possess the dogged determination to get the job done or to achieve a goal?

President Calvin Coolidge said, “Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not: the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.”

Persistence also matters in prayer. To encourage us to not lose heart when praying, Jesus told a story about a persistent widow that pleaded her case before an unjust judge (Luke 18:1-8). God is not an unjust judge. But prayer still requires a measure of tenacity and holy grit.
