Proverbs is chock full of financial wisdom from above. For example, “Know well the condition of your flocks, and give attention to your herds, for riches do not last forever; and does a crown endure for all generations?” (27:23-24)

You might not have any flocks or herds, but you probably possess stocks, bonds, real estate, and monthly cash flow that all require careful management. The old adage is true: Pay attention to the pennies and the dollars take care of themselves. Even Ben Franklin said, “A penny saved is a penny earned.”

If you’re penny wise and pound foolish, you need a budget—a spending plan that tells you where your money should go before you wonder where it went.
