Gamaliel was a respected Pharisee in the council. When tensions ran high among his colleagues about the teachings of the apostles in the early church, he put Peter and the others outside for a while and calmly addressed the men of Israel.

The wise teacher of the Jewish law reminded his fellow Pharisees of other uprisings that eventually died down. “If this plan is of man, it will fail. But if it is of God,” he warned, “you will not be able to overthrow them. You might even be found opposing God” (Acts 5:38-39).

Beware the person found opposing God. Two thousand years later, the church of Jesus Christ is worldwide. Is it time for you to admit this gospel is of God?
