Author Max Lucado says, “We talk as though we understand the term. The bank gives us a grace period. The seedy politician falls from grace. Musicians speak of a grace note. We use the word for hospitals, baby girls, kings, and premeal prayers. We talk as though we know what grace means.” But do we?

To appreciate grace we must experience it. Experience it like the day worker who got paid the same wage as his co-worker, even though he started his workday at five o’clock in the afternoon (Matthew 20). In the story Jesus told, the employer’s generosity angered some and amazed others.

God’s grace means we all get more than we deserve. So, rejoice and be glad.
