In the Christian life there are many ironies. For example, the weak are strong (2 Corinthians 12:9), the foolish are wise (1 Corinthians 1:27-29), the humble are exalted (Luke 14:11), and the broken are beautiful (Psalm 51:17). Indeed, “We have this treasure in jars of clay (2 Corinthians 4:7).

What is “this treasure” but “the light of the knowledge of the glory of God” and “the light of the glorious gospel of the glory of Christ” (2 Corinthians 4:3-6). That will twist your tongue in a New York minute but it will also change the way you see yourself as a believer in Jesus Christ.

We may be knocked down but we are never knocked out (2 Corinthians 4:8-9). Because we are cracked pots, the glory of God shines through our weakness and the death of Christ means life to us.
