The first words of the Bible found in Genesis chapter 1 introduce us to the concept of eternity. The fact that God was present “in the beginning” suggests He existed before time began. How do we wrap our finite minds around such a concept?

For grins, imagine climbing into your DeLorean time machine and traveling back in time as far as you can. There you’ll find God perched on the edge of time and eternity. Then turn around and travel forward in time – back to the future, as it were – until days, weeks, months, and years spill over into forever. There you will also find God.

As the psalmist says, “From everlasting to everlasting, you are God” (Psalm 90:2).
