In the Bible, the book of James is not the deep end of theology, but it does address the deep end of life. For example, "Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance" (James. 1:2).

A trouble-free life is a myth. Even Jesus said to his disciples, "In this world you will have tribulation." We'll never escape the trials of life. However, when our faith is tested, will we hold up like a strong tower or fold up like a cheap accordion?

When you encounter various trials, choose joy because God is producing something in you that is more valuable than happiness.
