The last time I checked, nobody was looking for meekness in the next president of the United States, or the next coach of the Dallas Cowboys, or the next corporate manager for Coca-Cola. No, most people associate meekness with weakness.
But meekness is actually power under control. The Greeks used the word "meek" to describe a mighty war horse that was trained to obey instantly and absolutely. In the Christian life, meekness is that gentle disposition that waits on God in faith.
That's why Jesus said, "Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth" (Matthew 5:7). Think of meekness as a highway to happiness and to getting everything you want out of life.
