An Example Worth Emulating · Something Good Radio

“But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us” (2 Corinthians 4:7). Never is that statement truer than in the life of Mary Magdalene. Do you know Mary?

I am not talking about Mary Magdalene the prostitute, of which Pope Gregory I falsely accused her in the sixth century, or Mary the wife of Jesus, as Dan Brown once maligned her in his provocative novel The Da Vinci Code.

The real Mary Magdalene was a passionate follower of Jesus (Luke 8:1-3), present at the cross (John 19:25), first to the empty tomb (Mark 16:1-2), and gloriously set free from a life tormented by seven demons (Luke 8:2; Mark 16:9). She was also an example of contagious generosity (Luke 8:3). Indeed, an example worth emulating.
